Alex Mandossian believes in and practices what he preaches. His web sites are laden with videos and audio sound bites. In the space of fifteen pages, I counted over seventy video testimonials interspersed with numerous ‘clicks to listen to Alex’. I was definitely drawn to the handsome and beautiful faces.
If a person is to be judged by the company he keeps on his web site, I suppose we can’t leave out Marcel Proust, Harry Truman, T.S. Elliot and George Bernard Shaw. Alex didn’t. He added their pictures with a catchy quote, and I was somewhat disappointed when I couldn’t click on them for their personal success stories.
As far as Alex Mandossian goes, though, he has two of his "Greats" say it best:
True discovery consists not in finding new landscapes, but in seeing the landscape with new eyes (Proust).
The greatest problem of communication is the illusion that it’s been accomplished (Shaw).
I love both of these quotes which he has chosen to represent his thinking. The first illustrates what Alex Mandossian, himself, is trying to do. The second brings to mind the ever present need for clearer communication in all walks of life; hence, Mandossian’s promotion of videos and live internet seminars as the most powerful communication techniques. I’m just not so sure regular folks like you and me can conduct a live seminar, much less bring about a powerful video starring ourselves—without a lot of attempts and coaching, that is. The camera just doesn’t lie; it will pick up any unclear emotions and broadcast them loud and clear. There’s a reason advertisers mostly use skilled actors.
I can’t deny, however, that most of us are creatures who like to be spoon-fed. I just think a video is not the always the right tool. Sometimes, one single picture can communicate very deep, lasting and powerful emotions. Take, for example, the screaming little Vietnamese girl (Kim) running down the dirt road trying to escape the pain of napalm. There’s a tough one to forget.
I’ll leave you with feelings on the positive side—the uplifting kind. How about we try peaceful scenes from nature? Here are a couple of photos I took outside my house (one of a fox in our driveway and the other of our mountain view). I made both into Send-Out Cards and had the Great Printer in Salt Lake City send them out. Email me at info@opportunityreviewer.com with your name and address and I’ll send you one for free.
